Achieving a Sustainable Town: Global Goals and Local Action
What is the role of local communities like Huddersfield in tackling the climate crisis, promoting sustainable business and reducing inequality? Organised by the Sustainable Huddersfield project, this event takes a look at why local sustainability is so important and how we can achieve it.

To address these questions and share their experiences of local action, we have a panel of expert speakers who have worked, researched and campaigned on sustainability.

Dr Beth Perry, from the Urban Institute at the University of Sheffield, will speak about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their relevance locally in addressing environmental, economic and social injustices.

Allan Macloed, from the Bristol One City team, will share his experiences of developing projects at a local level to meet sustainability needs, such as period poverty and youth violence.

David Connor, from the 2030 hub in Liverpool, will focus on building partnerships to achieve sustainable change, drawing on the work of the 2030 hub with the private sector and with youth activists.

Barry Sheerman, MP for Huddersfield, will speak about the Sustainable Huddersfield project.
